How was it?
There was once a superb debut film from writer Kortala Siva which brought back Prabhas in to the limelight just before Baahubali – The Beginning came out in 2015. This is not Mirchi in literal sense, however, intentionally or unintentionally, this is a remake. What makes the 167-minute runtime interesting are the two fantastic pillars of this movie – Trivikram as the writer-director & Hegde’s funky performance.
Trivikram Srinivas’ direction is solid & at times – masterful. He does away with the quick-edit-quick-cut moments and adds a ton of slow-motion, while writing exquisite dialogue for each of the characters which most of the time end up mouthing the question we are having in our mind. P.S. Vinod’s cinematography is mind-blowing. Each frame is filled with ample lighting while the stunt sequences look freaking outstanding in his frames. S. Thaman’s songs are good but are more effective due to the excellent choreography. The background score is just insanely loud. It also comes across as a rehash of another Thaman background score which escapes the memory. Ram-Laxman’s stunts are mind-boggling. This is true Trivikram stunt work. There is coherence, marvellous slow-motions and violence turned up to the maximum – delivering a knockout impact.
NTR Jr. is decent in the lead. He attempts to oscillate between two characters and does marginally well in both. He dances very well in the final song. Pooja Hegde is magnificent. She makes the proceedings worthwhile during the first hour. Eesha Rebba is excellent as well, although it is sad that she does not get the hero at the end. Jagapathi Babu portrays the antagonist with perfection yet again – especially during the closing 20-minutes. The rest of the cast is decent.
Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava is a ₹100-crore action-drama which comes across more as a showreel for NTR Jr.’s political career. But this is also a Trivikram film because of how the action develops and the song choreography is as per the instruments used in the music. There are heavy traces of Mirchi and that cannot be denied easily because the latter had come out just 5 years ago. Yet, Trivikram somehow balances the act of keeping you engaged, distressing you by showing NTR Jr. in a character too serious for his own good and assuring you at the very same time that is this is very much his own movie.
Yet, the dissatisfaction remains.
Aravinda Sametha is the new faction backdrop movie. It arrives this Wednesday. Already revealed video clippings, songs and prom songs are slowly raised the hype over movie. Now major cast and crew are giving back to back interviews. Jr NTR and Pooja Hegde will appear in title roles. Jagapathi Babu played a bad character name Obaa. Censor board has given ‘U/A’ and its run time is two hours forty one minutes.
